Satin Blazer

It’s good to step out of your comfort zone, whether that be with things or with experiences, in this case, this satin blazer. I have always been a little apprehensive about changing or doing something out of my norm because I like certainty.

I like knowing what something will taste like, look like, feel like, etc. So stepping out of that and trying things I normally wouldn’t takes some effort. BUT, it always pays off!

When I was in b-school, I had an opportunity to take a trip to another country to do some consulting work. My first instinct was to choose Spain or somewhere in Africa, but I took a leap of faith and chose to work in India. I had never been to that part of the world before and knew this my chance. That trip was an amazing experience, and I cannot wait for another opportunity to go back.

If you all haven’t noticed from my Instagram and blog posts as of late, I have a color palette that I really like: blush, white, tan, and black. But when I saw this copper satin blazer on blogger/thriftinista FannyPHX shop, I HAD to have it! It was just too good to pass up. The outfit was already planned in my mind before it was delivered, THAT GOOD!

Happy I decided to veer off my usual course and do something out of the norm. I absolutely love this look in all of its satin-y goodness. I’m a fan of dressing down outfits that should otherwise be dressy. Could’ve gone with heels for this look but wanted to show you a more realistic option. Sneakers are so much more comfy when walking the streets of DTLA.

    Seyi,

I love this jacket and the slip dress! I definitely understand the apprehensive feelings toward stepping out of your comfort zone, but you pulled this look off! The sneakers helped it casual enough to where it didn’t seem too dressy. Love it

Thanks so much Angelica! I’m starting to deviate from my “usual” color palette but I’m liking it so far!
