Camel Faux Fur Coat

This camel faux fur coat is now one of my fave items in my closet. As soon as I saw it, I knew I had to have it. I had no idea what I would wear it with but it would eventually figure itself out. BEWARE: Shedding is real with a faux fur coat…very real. tan faux fur coatcamel faux fur coatcamel faux fur coat

So I decided to chop most of my hair off a few weeks ago. I did so for a couple of reasons but one of the main ones was that I wanted a change. Simple as that. I’ve had hair, now I wanted to see what it would be like to not have hair. I plan on going even shorter in the coming weeks but I wanted to first see how it would look on me. And I LOVE IT!

I had already planned to cut it once my mom started losing her hair with the chemo treatments. Which led to my other reason for chopping: I no longer want to hold on to things that can be gone soon. In this world, we place so much emphasis on what we have, what we can get, and how we can get more. I have been guilty of this and I still am, to be honest. I wanted to do something that symbolized (for myself), that there’s more to this life than material things. tan faux fur coatcamel faux fur coat camel faux fur coat

As I was telling people why I wanted to cut my hair, I realized (thanks to a friend) that I was trying to justify my actions to them. And my friend basically told me that I owe no one an explanation with how and why I choose to do things. That if I wanted to simply cut my hair for the sake of cutting it, then that’s a perfect reason. That statement stuck with me because it made me see how I try to always make others feel comfortable with my own life. But, this is MY life. Your life is YOUR life. We owe nobody an explanation for anything. We answer to one being only, and that is God. As you go into the New Year, don’t be afraid of change. I always have been. And I am trying to make an effort to be more open.

I love what your friend said! I think that is something everyone needs to work on, myself included. Less explanation more just doing. I’m definitely going to keep that in mind for this new year.

This combo is perfect!!! I cut my hair for the first time in years in 2014 and I felt really powerful that I keep cutting it everytime!! One advice I always give people when it comes to hair cutting is ‘just do it’ because if you keep asking people you’d be getting a billion different opinions and you might never just do it. Before 2014 a friend once told me that if I cut my hair it won’t suit me because I don’t have a small head but look at who is slaying now as a baldie… Me!!!

First of all, love your coat Seyi! I’ve been wanting a baby pink fur coat but after seeing this, I just might get a camel one instead. Secondly, I can relate completely to your last paragraph because I’m guilty of that. As you said, we owe no one any explanations. Happy new year, wish you all the best 2017 has to offer.xx

I absolutely love this post. I totally understand what you are saying. I totally have felt like that for years. I finally did my big chop and go completely natural and it was the best thing I ever did. Happy New year. Many blessings to you. This year going to be a good one. I’m claiming it! XO

Thanks so much for taking out the time to read love! Cutting my hair honestly felt (and still feels) so liberating. And thank you for the well wishes! I believe the same for you and your family too! :)
